  on the way to work, listening to the radio, what the asswipes in power talk about make me sick... you have a bunch of nations trying their best to slow down or stop climate change, and on the other hand you have Bush talking out of his ass insisting that their 'talking to China and India' will do more than the G8 proposal...

  I slept at 2.30am last night. I woke up at 7am for morning prayers and couldn't get back to sleep. My whole body is aching like mad... and once again, I'll be working tonight.
  
  Basket... some idiotic little boy pressed the emergency stop button at the Sentosa Express train platform I was working. As a result, the entire Sentosa Express network was paralysed for at least ten minutes while my superiors were scrambling to reset the system!
  
  Oh well... I managed to find out who the culprit was. I continuously screamed at the passengers, 'WHO PRESSED THE EMERGENCY RED BUTTON?!?! ALL THE TRAINS CANNOT MOVE BECAUSE OF THIS!!!!'
  
  And eventually, the little boy's own mother admitted to me that her son did it.
  
  Upon receiving instructions from my superiors, I took down the little fella's name, nationality and passport number and handed it over to them.

  China is now having some algae growth contaminate their drinking water in some parts, causing a water crisis. The country seems to be falling apart, environmentally speaking at the very least.

  they don't care.. as long as the 'outside' looks good, and they get 'glory' for their nation, they are willing to screw themselves and the world...
  
  i don't know what the central american fellas will do now that about 50 people have died from using poisoned toothpaste from China...
  
  add to that about 1,000 children dead from industrial solvents in cough mixture base syrup...
  
  fake pharmaceuticals, fake milk powder, fake... everything!
  
  now they've stolen the German MagLev technology and booted the Germans out.. look out for 400+km/h rail accidents..
  
  have you seen their CCTV towers? they're intentionally off-centre..
  
  add to that, their casino of a stock market..

  I was actually thinking about investing in some china funds.............then after much deliberation decided to abort the plan, I also sold my india funds because everything I read and hear suggests they will be royally fucked in the long run

  for short term, it's good.. the bloody chinese stocks gained an average of 60% since the start of this year.. but it's all a bubble.. the locals are treating it like a casino

  Short term yes, but I'm not a punter so I think I'll be happy with the 4% p.a. given in my special account, nothing to sneeze at really

  As I've said, if you want to play with money, only use your own money, and only in amounts that you can afford to write off easily.
  
  I just can't help but think about reckless young people who splurge their parents' hard-earned money on the stock market only to lose it all.

  The problem with the stock market is the prices often rise and fall based on flawed perception, and not fundamentals. So it loooks incredibly irrational to people on the outside(like me)

  well, look at the PRC stock market.. the place is awash with money because the punters (ordinary people) have nowhere else to put their money, so they all throw it into the stock market as it's been growing...
  
  add to that, you will see the cheats and charlatans out there calling themselves 'financial managers' cheating the ordinary people of their money, adding to the bubble...
  
  heck! if they are not adverse to poisoning children for profit, they will not be adverse to cheating people of their money..

  Enron was one of the biggest until everything fell apart...

  btw, corporate raiders who go into a company, run a hostile takeover, dismantle it for a profit are seen as 'astute businessmen' and all that..
  
  however, the blue collar hack, trying to put food on the table of his family just lost his job... multiply that by about 10,000 times for the company that just got dismantled..
  
  the raider just made about $10m for that.. but a whole lot of people just became hungry..

  You let them cheat at school and get away with it, they may grow up having no qualms about pulling a fast one on others in order to get ahead.
  
  And this mentality may stick with them into adulthood.... that's when they evolve from academic cheats to financial cheats.
