should it be leak the tape to all teh pple around to, erm, warn them of the trouble they will have with her and help them find ways to work mroe efficiently around her?Originally posted by fudgester:What you might want to do:
Get a tape recorder.
Insist that you be allowed to record her instructions on tape, along with your retort that the graphics will look sucky... after all, she does insist that you keep good records.
Then when the VCD is done and she asks you why the graphics suck, take out the tape recording and pwn her big time.![]()
dunno sounds fun though. but i guess most of us won't really do itOriginally posted by av98m:taping conversations is a no no lah. what kind of suggestion is that.
I know. That suggestion was made in jest.Originally posted by av98m:taping conversations is a no no lah. what kind of suggestion is that.
That's what an email trail is forOriginally posted by fudgester:I know. That suggestion was made in jest.
But seriously, it might do well to (tactfully) remind her that she was previously advised that the quality of the VCD would be poor quality.
actually, whats the diff between recording the orders down on tape and an email trial?Originally posted by av98m:That's what an email trail is for
i've lost count of the number of times I had to dig up email, some as old as 3 years, as supporting evidence![]()
huge, huge difference. I'm suprised you even have to ask.Originally posted by hisoka:actually, whats the diff between recording the orders down on tape and an email trial?
so whats the difference?Originally posted by av98m:huge, huge difference. I'm suprised you even have to ask.
I'd say that it's mainly disrespectful to your superiors if you ask that their orders be recorded down on tape. It indicates to them that they are forgetful of their own words and that you are forgetful of theirs as well.Originally posted by av98m:huge, huge difference. I'm suprised you even have to ask.
but thats the whole rationale of the email trial too. so other than the part where askign permission or being cuaght doing so, its actually the same?Originally posted by fudgester:I'd say that it's mainly disrespectful to your superiors if you ask that their orders be recorded down on tape. It also indicates that you mistrust them and fully expect them to go back against their own words.
Regardless of what you think of your superiors... tape recording is a big no-no unless if they themselves insist on it first.
there is nothing un-ethical nor is there need to ask for permission to archive whatever's in your email! and unlike audio, there is a time and date stamp!Originally posted by hisoka:but thats the whole rationale of the email trial too. so other than the part where askign permission or being cuaght doing so, its actually the same?![]()
You have answered your own question here.Originally posted by hisoka:but thats the whole rationale of the email trial too. so other than the part where askign permission or being cuaght doing so, its actually the same?![]()
so why is it unethical to tape down orders given to you? still no answer.Originally posted by av98m:there is nothing un-ethical nor is there need to ask for permission to archive whatever's in your email!![]()
I've already said it.... even if your boss gives permission, you are still implying to him that he can't be trusted.Originally posted by hisoka:so why is it unethical to tape down orders given to you? still no answer.
i instinctively think its unethical too, but thinking more, i can't figure out why other than permission.![]()

Sigh.... now I kinda regret making that joke about taping the boss's orders.Originally posted by av98m:hello pinky.
see hisoka's posts above and see if you want to try to explain to him why one does not go about taping people's conversations at work![]()
you forgot hisoka dances to a different beat from most of us.Originally posted by fudgester:Sigh.... now I kinda regret making that joke about taping the boss's orders.
I was thinking of it... maybe, it can be construed as an 'infringement of privacy' or something like that?Originally posted by av98m:hello pinky.
