Hmm... good idea! I was just wondering if I should opt for the partitioning of the HDD service pre-delivery and you just answered my question!Originally posted by choco B:It's hard to live without a PC. Should consider.
Dell is not that difficult to operate if you don't download dodgy programs, mine is doing fine so far.
How about you partition your hard disk and use one drive for all the operating system and programs, and save your other data in other drives, so that at last resort you can just reformat the thing ?

my sch threw it out after 1-2 years because almost every friend of mine who uses a toshiba will definitely has his/her laptop break down at least once in that 2 years.
at least dell is cheap, so if it spoils, u can't really complain too much, but toshiba is just plain farked up.

Oh yeah the colour transfer thing is terrible
And this colour transfer thing applies to coloured straw bags as well
I had this good white blouse ruined coz of a coloured straw bag
I only buy the natural coloured ones ever since
My Dell in Singapore which is now used by my mom, has worked well for the past THREE years. Thank you!Originally posted by the Bear:i remember my sister saying the she told her tech side that cult leader wanted to buy a Dell.. they almost ran her over in their haste to stop the purchase even when they had not idea who or where
that says a lot about Dells
whats the use of being indestructible to unforeseen circumstances, and being so prone to die of natural deaths?Originally posted by the Bear:in the days of the Pentium chip, Toshiba made indestructible notebooks...
Fresh Gear tested them all out.. only the Toshiba survived everything (including a full mug of coffee with cream)

Did you not like the rubber studded range? Is it too last season? Or is it their permanent line?

cuz i was playing the game, it started lagging, i got pissed off and whack the underside of my laptop 3x, and tadaa. blue screen.
now its quite cranky, ever since that incident, like taking too long to load or being unable to shut down properly.
i guess, i accidentally dmg some part of my motherboard.![]()
Toshiba laptops here in the US have a stellar reputation for reliability among corporate users. In terms of physical durability, nothing comes close to an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad.Originally posted by the Bear:in the days of the Pentium chip, Toshiba made indestructible notebooks...

The Dell laptop my mom bought that she passed on to my bro has worked well for the past TWO AND A HALF years too.
And not having anybody to offer SERIOUS help and assistance to me here, and me being a complete sua ku where PC's are concerned because I've been PC-less for more than a year now, Dell and their on-site support suits me just fine.
Faced with no other VIABLE options, this is the only route I have. Now, if your sis or her techies don't mind driving up and down to my place or be on call 24/7 for the idiot problems I might run into, then I shall put my money wherever they say to.![]()

Actually how often do you have pc problems?Originally posted by Rhonda:You didn't.
Your sis is busy at work. Besides, I haven't seen her for months before I left for SG and the next time I'll see her will probably be mid-July.
The techies at her workplace aren't exactly going to come running to my apt each time a problem surfaces either.
With virtually no support like that, you think I'd dare venture that way?![]()

actually, dell pcs are crap. but surprisingly, from the feedback from my friend, the dell lappys are actually quite good and stable and doesn't suffer from the bad hardware troubles too.Originally posted by stellazio:toshiba is the most screwed up laptop brand ever.

Oh, I am so wicked!!But hey, it's a lovely designer handbag we're talking about here, y'know! Heirloom stuff!
