  i don't get either.. remember, i'm employed so they pay me whatever my employer will pay during my absence
  
  and being a civil serpent, my ministry just charges mindef for it... and the pay is still the same

  I actually lost money while doing my ICT.
  
  I calculated that if I had worked at Sentosa over those 14 days, I would have earned $500++.
  
  But my rank pay for those 14 days was.... $330.

  Oh yeah.... I didn't give tuition for those two weeks.
  
  So add another $175 to my losses.

  Nah... 30 months of full-time NS in a combat vocation was enough for me.
  
  But, believe it or not, I actually kinda enjoyed my NS years.

  Was chatting on the phone with a welfare case worker from one of the outlying counties earlier this morning. She was just assigned a Hmong family that was recently resettled into her county from a refugee camp in Laos. The family comprised the father, the mother, and her 18 children. The mother is barely 30 years old.
  
  The reason the case worker called was she couldn't enter the names of the 18 children into the state's electronic welfare management system because it was set up to only accept a maximum of 14 children per parent. Guess we'll be making coding changes to up that number to at least 18 now...
  
  18 children.... where does the mother find the time?

  I think its a family thing.
  
  My sister has been picking on me more often.
  
  Machiam like everyday, I got her telling me that I missed this and I missed that.
  
  And its still a 'I must drop everything to answer her or do things she tells me to' kinda situation.
  
  But its worse now because she expects somethings to be done w/o giving me actual instructions.
  
  Like just now. She calls me out of my room, telling me to dump out something in the recycle bin.
  
  I sees her putting a plastic tray on the short wall.
  
  So I picked it up, bring it to the recycle bin and dump it.
  
  But later on, she was telling me, that I missed the empty baby water container on the short wall.
  
  I was like? Huh?
  
  You tell me to move one thing, and I did it w/o hesitation.
  
  Now I am suppose to take my own sweet time survey the place and brings out both items together when you only indicated one?
  
  When I am slow, she gets frustrated.
  
  When I am fast, I got something wrong with me?

  My sister can be infuriating most times.
  
  Even when we are young, she has this bad habit of bossing everyone around.
  
  We've gotten used to it. Much like how I got used to how my mother tries bossing me around beccause she is my mother.
  
  And the kids are now at the stage where they are extremely clingy to their mother.
  
  So just now, sis just wanted to go upstairs, spend some time on the computer to buy some stuffs. So i was called out to watch the boy.
  
  Then the boy turned around, found mother missing and me in her place and he cries for mama.
  
  Mama came down and asked: Why cant you connect to the boy?
  
  I replied: Not that I cannot connect, he wants you and his response was instantanous for you. Not for me.
  
  Half my mind was thinking: Frack, I am leaving in 4 days time. What kinda connection you think your child should bond with me? The kind that dump out the mama and follow auntie to Singapore instead?
  
  Whats wrong with her? She wont bear to let go of her child. But when she wants some private time, its someone's fault for not connecting to the child?
  
  And besides, whats wrong with training the boy to be in the same room, while you work on the computer and he shares a physical space with you? Why must there be such direct separation?
