jetta, yesterday, in the middle of handover at work, I suddenly had a hot flush and my cheeks turned flushed and red and warm to the touch. My colleagues asked what in the world was happening to me.
After they diagnosed my symptoms of recent viral infection and flu, episodes of forgetfulness, and that hot flush, they came up with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome! A website online confirmed it too!
Ah well, at least, it is NOT Dementia, NOT Alzheimer's! -

Usually, if you can afford to pay 20% of the deposit, you can avoid having to pay the so-called mortgage insurance. It cost more if you take out 100% of the loan.
When we bought our house, we borrowed up to 95% and we had to pay mortgage insurance. It's not too bad for us as the house is only $200k but if you are looking something around $400k, you will be struggling.
Also, the 100% loan is not only just the cost of the house, but the mortgage insurance, stamp duty, (minus the first home buyer grant), conveyancing, insurance etc. Say the house you are interested in buying is $400k, and it could easily become a $450k - $480k loan after adding the other costs.
So, you just need to do the Maths and compare with your rental. Perhaps it might be worth just renting for a little bit longer and save up the deposit and buy the house you like later. -

Siiiigh... Time to head for work so I can afford to buy that PC!
And jetta, yes, it's to go home. Too much unsettled stuff. Previous trip home fell ill for almost the whole trip, didn't eat Chilli Crab, didn't ship some barang-barang over, didn't meet up with a few friends, quite bway kum guan!
BTW, maybe it's a blessing in disguise but the Chilli Crab photos Bear sent me via MMS can't be accessed for some strange reason! Maybe it's to rescue me from heartache and excessive salivating! -

Sounds exactly like our system here. 20% downpayment saves you from paying Private Mortgage Insurance to the bank. Speaking of reviews, did I tell you that I won 4 tickets to an advance screening of the Fantastic Four? We caught it last night. Damn press people had the best seats. We sat in line for about an hour and yet ended up seated 10 rows from the front. The movie was fun though.
