Actually, I thot if you're working in London making London's salary, the cost of living is reasonable, eg. food and groceries can be cheaper than here, except that property is expensive. -

Haiz....then cham! Even soya beans and supposedly good soya products like tofu are not spared. It's said that soya beans were genetically meddled with in the 50's, so most of the species from north america now are not fit for eating...contains toxins or something... I've known there's was somethg wrong with soya for a long time, but din bother to plough through the info overload on the net, but last night i was reading a mag about organic food, and they mentioned this. think about it. once upon a time we could only get fruits and veg that are in-season. now you can get everything all year round!!!

the current property prices are just insane

BTw, bear,
i cant seem to find a whole duck at the local asian supermarket. Might be because the restaurant nearby buys up all their ducks for their roast duck specialiaties.
anyway, only managed to get some duck wings. So am trying out your recipe for braised duck.
Some other pieces of the duck, I already throw into the crock pot and made duck wing with preserved mustard soup.
need to throw in some baby carrots & about a 1/2 cup of honey for extra sweetness.
Then add in the dark soy sauce. I must say the result is not bad. -

My colleague is sitting on a windfall...she owns a very high level flat at Tiong Bahru...and paid only a small fraction bec it was en bloc redevelopment...I'm telling her to sell, sell, sell! This is her big sweep! -

I'd say dun sell if that is her only flat. Because the prices have been driven up to the point where even if you make a 'profit', the cost of buying another similar flat will eat up most of the profit!! Plus moving house is damned sian!! -
love century eggs with tofu.
and stir fry chilli sauce with tofu.....yum yum.....just crack in a egg into the chilli sauce with some water....then stir fry it with the tofu....
