Its even worse these days with spaces already reserved for foreign kids, and kids of pap grassroots people in the popular schools, thanks to our gabrahment. -
A lot of kiasu parents do grassroots work to get their children into the popular schools, then stop once their kids are in.

and the child is currently 3..
the principals tell them outright that the 'volunteer work' will not mean their child will be in that school
thing is.. the 'good' schools are rubbish.. the parents pack their children with tuition anyway.. the teachers could just appear and sit there, the children will still get good grades...

my relative(mom's side) volunteers in the so called grassroots and in the end, they had to write countless letters to the MOE to get my cousin a place in pri school -
