In a way, I'd rather pay high income tax here so when we get old, there are some welfare. In Singapore, there's nothing except your cpf. And is your cpf enough for you to retire?Originally posted by av98m:our medical costs also going up. and forget about government hospitals if you are in urgent need of treatment
medishield and medisave and eldershied are fucking useless, and are the gahmen's way of stealing cpf funds![]()
well the same can be said for the UK. medicalis highly subsizided or sth, but you want treatment, gotta wait damn long.Originally posted by the Bear:if you are in dire need of immediate medical treatment, you will have to pay really high fees...
heck.. i was in the A&E.. the doc was screaming into the phone to get the orthopaedic guy to see me because i was in extreme pain.. but all she could do was to get an appointment in a couple of weeks' time... she even apologised to me.. i said it doesn't matter.. i'll try to endure it..
now.. this is A&E...
before the pain became that bad, i went to the usual channels, getting an appointment... the earliest was in 3 months at Alexandra Hospital.. my records for my back are in NUH.. the earliest appointment was in almost 5 months..
so.. slipped disc... endure the pain to go to the public hospital.. or become bankrupt and go to a private hospital and get immediate treatment?
It can be like that in Australia too. Not enough hospital beds etc. That's why the government encourages people to take up private health insurance. We get a 30% rebate if we get private health insurance and we don't have to pay the medicare levy.Originally posted by the Bear:if you are in dire need of immediate medical treatment, you will have to pay really high fees...

I dunno, might not even live long enough to see the money, considering the rising minimum age and minimum sum for withdrawalOriginally posted by honeymouse:In a way, I'd rather pay high income tax here so when we get old, there are some welfare. In Oz, the min age is 65 or 67 yo for men. Think 60yo for women.Originally posted by av98m:I dunno, might not even live long enough to see the money, considering the rising minimum age and minimum sum for withdrawal![]()
Recent GST hikes, inflation and whatnots. I'd say, probably lesser.Originally posted by the Bear:that's worth.. how much? a plugged nickel?

The PS3 is a fucking disasterOriginally posted by the Bear:so.. the game console price war starts.. with a whimper..
blood Sony dropped its price of the PS3 in the US to US$500 for the 60GB model but the idiots confuse the public by offering the 80GB model + 1 game for US$600
they expect the XBox360 price to drop too in retaliation..
