Thing about the now-older Daniel that I find disconcerting is that his complexion is so pale and waxy, looks very odd lehHe needs a tan.
Better try to get more sleep, so that you can better cope with the tai-chi-ed work at the office.Originally posted by stellazio:having a hard time waking up every morning.![]()
We weren't talking about David the magician....but the English novel.Originally posted by stellazio:ohmy david copperfield is a legend.

That David copperfield has not ended yet...maybe they'll show part 2 next week.

Yes, but it is currently centered around an ageing 1995-vintage Sony 32" Trinitron TV.Originally posted by av98m:Do you have a home theater system?![]()

The prices of flat-panel HDTV sets have dropped to the point where I can actually afford one. The Panasonic 42" plasma HDTV I'm looking at is currently on sale at Sears for $1200. I'm holding back on getting a hidef DVD player until the format war between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray has been won and settled.
Hmmm.... I wonder where jetta has gone to.

Yeah the hi-def war is dumb and nobody is going to emerge a winner. The industry could have benefited from cooperation instead of competition but hey, greed gets in the way. Consumers wise up sooner or later. Haven't these companies learnt anything from past experience?Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Yes, but it is currently centered around an ageing 1995-vintage Sony 32" Trinitron TV.

I think the general rule of thumb is that any media format backed by Sony usually ends up by the wayside. Look at Betamax.Originally posted by av98m:Yeah the hi-def war is dumb and nobody is going to emerge a winner. Myself I'm happy with my oppo 971hd(or is it 970? hmm) dvd player. It is cheap and good, plays every format under the sun(good for pirated stuff) and even supports hdmi and stuff(not that I'm using it).
Some people I know are regretting getting hdmi cables set up in their houses. The design is shit, and there is always intermittent signal cut-off if your cable is long (anything longer than 5 metres it seems)
I was watching the appleseed dvd and a few episodes of standalone complex dvd on a friend's home theater system with hdmi and ceiling mounted projector etc......other than the much larger display I actually preferred the color and pic quality on my old crt TV at home. Go figureOriginally posted by Meia Gisborn:Tell you what, though: I was over at a friend's house last Friday and watched the Ghost in the Shell Solid State Society standard definition movie DVD on his HD-DVD player which upconverted the videostream to 720p for playback on his 50" plasma HDTV. Even with the upconversion, the image quality was stunning. That about clinched it for me to make the plunge into HDTV.
