one more reason why we should have a dog instead of a kidOriginally posted by stellazio:MASONVILLE, Colo. - Zoey is a Chihuahua, but when a rattlesnake lunged at her owners' 1-year-old grandson, she was a real bulldog.
Booker West was splashing his hands in a birdbath in his grandparents' northern Colorado back yard when the snake slithered up to the toddler, rattled and struck. Five-pound Zoey jumped in the way and took the bites.
"She got in between Booker and the snake, and that's when I heard her yipe," said Monty Long, the boy's grandfather.
The dog required treatment and for a time it appeared she might not survive. Now she prances about.
"These little bitty dogs, they just don't really get credit," Booker's grandma Denise Long told the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald.

I cook most of the times and I prefer it too. While it is very convenient to just have take away, it just gets too expensive to do it too often. Also, it's much healthier to eat at home.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Ah, dinner for me was two slices of peanut butter and jelly bread, and some fruit. I had a rather heavy lunch at work today, and decided to balance it out with a light dinner.
Not counting lunches at the office, I'd say that I cook about 60% of the time. There are many decent restaurants and eateries around here, and it's very tempting to just go get dinner at one of them.
What about you? Do you prefer to cook or eat out?
Is it the Taiwanese kind? I've not tried that and I wonder if it will taste fishy.Originally posted by elindra:I have a sudden urge to cook oyster mee suan during the weekend

[b]Oyster Soup with Vermicelli
makes 4 servings
1 pound of oysters, shucked (you can substitute canned oysters if fresh are not available)
2 cloves garlic crushed
2 tablespoons soy sauce
a few fresh basil leaves
¼ pound vermicelli, cooked (rice or wheat)
Sauce A: ½ tablespoon cooking wine or sherry, ¼ teaspoon salt and 3 tablespoons cornstarch
Sauce B: 2 tablespoons cooking wine or sherry, 4 cups stock or water, ¼ teaspoon salt, pepper, 1 ½ tablespoons cornstarch
Step 1: Wash the oysters by rubbing gently in several changes of salt water. Blanch in boiling water. Remove and drain . Marinate in sauce A and set aside.
Step 2: Heat water in a large enough pot to cook the vermicelli. While this water is coming to a boil, heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a preheated wok. Stir-fry garlic for three minutes, then add soy sauce and sauce B. Boil until thick. Stir in oysters and fresh basil and remove from heat. DonÂ’t forget to drain your vermicelli!
Step 3: Place the warm and drained vermicelli noodles in a bowl. Pour the oyster soup over the noodles.
