if i'm not wrong there are some restrictions on what share they can buy also right? due to what the company is dealing with?Originally posted by fudgester:Let me clarify things....
Muslims aren't allowed to drink alcohol. As for trading in it, it's certainly forbidden to sell it to Muslims, but I'm unclear about selling it to non-Muslims.
That's not to say that I cannot touch alcohol entirely... otherwise, I would be sinning every single time a fellow medic swabs my forearm to do an IV infusion. It can be used as an antiseptic so long as you wash it off afterwards... in this case, the need for sterility takes precedence over everything else.
But that said, there are eating places that sell halal food and alcohol on the side in order to cater to non-Muslims. I believe that Rice Table is one such eating establishment. However, if they choose to do so, they are not allowed to apply for the halal certificate from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore.
The same goes for Malaysia.... I remember having sushi at a conveyor belt sushi bar in KL which didn't have the halal cert. The reason was that they had sake and beer on the menu. However, most of the waitresses (and the manager) were Muslim.
Hope that helps to clear things up.
Really?Originally posted by Keii:Dad told me more about the place.
Said, during his flying days, when he used to hang around Seletar, he and his friends used to head over to the old place to eat. Became good friends with the owner, an American. Few years ago, the owner started to have problems with his knee, getting old. Couldn't walk no more.
He had a Chinese partner. Trained, and was working with him. Soon bought over the place. Dad says it's nothing like it used to be.
Oh well.

actually they went there on their own accord for god-knows-what reasons right? pun intendedOriginally posted by Wanda:I don't think their kind of request (to release the extremists) shd or could be acceded, coz it's not just about the koreans, but everyone else who's subjected to the risk of terrorism. I think they will go through all the men and then maybe start working on the women despite the protests going onOriginally posted by Wanda:I don't think their kind of request (to release the extremists) shd or could be acceded, coz it's not just about the koreans, but everyone else who's subjected to the risk of terrorism. Yeah but if they shoot the women, that might be considered a non-muslim actionOriginally posted by av98m:their 'reputation' is at stake.
they have to continue shooting the hostages until demands are met.
if they release them just like that, they'd become the laughing stock of the terrorist community.
