Then I don't understand why the heck the software detected itself as being used for network use and tried to warn me of possible legal liability if I didn't buy their network version.Originally posted by the Bear:hmmm.. what if they tell you 'okay.. it's free anyway'
My network's protected.Originally posted by the Bear:hmm.. could be someone trying to tap on your notebook.. the wireless thingy.. leeching from it... and turning it into a network

In order for someone to access my home wireless network, I would have to approve his presence first on my router. I remember having to do that after I brought my laptop back from reformatting.... I had to manually type in my laptop's MAC address into the wireless router's admin programme in my family desktop in order to allow it to accept my laptop's presence.
Oh well... like I said, if AVG's parent company doesn't respond soon, I'll simply uninstall it.
Hmm... I suppose that's a possibility.Originally posted by the Bear:the router, and all that, yes...

my friend had to have her screen changed every 1-3 months. and yes it was a toshiba lappy.....Originally posted by fudgester:Okay... my laptop is seriously, seriously screwed up.
I unplugged it from the power socket... I was planning to move my laptop to my bedroom so that I could lie down while working on it.
Then suddenly, just a couple of minutes after I unplugged it, I heard an audible 'crack' sound from the laptop... and the screen went blank.
As it turns out, the battery has malfunctioned once more. My laptop would not be able to detect the battery at all, and as such is totally dependent on AC power.
This has happened before a few months ago... unfortunately, it's not covered under the warranty, and the tech told me that I would have to shell out over $100 for a new battery... which I'm obviously unwilling to spend on.
Ladies and gentlemen.... this just another reason why you should never, EVER buy a Toshiba laptop.![]()

So this means that this piece of crap has had its RAM chips, DVD-ROM drive, wireless card, and battery all malfunctioning and requiring replacement in its three years of existence.
I can't believe that I spent $2600 on this piece of nonsense. Unfortunately, laptops were a lot more expensive then when I was a freshman, and this was a standard model which I bought through NUS at a subsidised rate.
*me hurls profanities at the laptop*![]()
