I didn't find the practical stuff like sewing and cooking difficult because it was basically following instructions - as long as you followed them carefully the end result may not be a masterpiece but will be at least average-looking /tasting

u can paint the colour wheel only that many times
until u are sick and tired of it -

You can mull over a design for a week, refer to other books, get INSPIRED, make plans today change plans next lesson, etc.

Yes I did not think my art teacher was that great too.

if not art is just a lesson for me to sleep or play around in class. -

(a friend of mine is an art teacher who brought her class to do chalk drawings of the basket ball court. NOW that's interesting)

In that sense possibly (I dunno I never took D&T) , D&T may have more leeway for creativity.
Because cooking and sewing you have to follow STRICT instructions , no veering from it at all. All bake the same cake, all sew the same dress.

in sec 1 and 2, the onus is on the end results
suddenly in sec 3 and 4, the emphasis is on the PROCESS of art which really should be the case to begin with
art isnt just about beauty or neatness
but i remember lots of people getting As cos they coloured neatly or draw pretty drawings
ideas on the other hand, often are very valued or asked for...
(ok i guess u know who hands up the messy work always get B- )
I'm glad though at least by sec 3 and 4, the creative process is much more valued. -
I was never a fan of art either.
I barely scraped through the subject in Sec 1 and Sec 2.
I made sure to stay away from it from Sec 3 onwards. -

e.g. my friend's class who did a duffel bag, they actually could DESIGN it.. think about what colours, what decorations etc.
that was fun.
or u know.. can do cooking lessons lke... these ingredients, have to cook different dishes using similar ingredients for potluck! etc etc
actually not just these subjects, even academic subjects nowadays have a lot more emphasis on functional knowledge instead of talking abt particles all the time.
but I think during my time... teaching was a lot of 'point' and 'do' -
Somehow. During school. I always got A for my art. Then I started to get lazy. And do things last minute or put little effort, and still got A. Somehow I topped Sec 3 Art.
