I have a borderline pass in economics but looking at the panic spreading, I would think they did it to prevent the markets from free falling and then ppl panicking and leading to a bank run.Originally posted by av98m:http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_asiapacific_business/view/295355/1/.html
OK, for those who are versed in economics and finance, can you please enlighten me as to WHY its a good thing for central banks to bail people out everytime the shit hits the fan? And the same cycle repeats itself again and again! It makes no sense to me.

Very far to walk lehOriginally posted by the Bear:Liang Tye Medical Hall.. the one nearest the traffic lights of North Bridge Road
But this happens everytime banks sit on lots of money and decide to lend it out in an idiotic manner to people with bad credit ratings. and they seem to repeat the same mistake over and over again. The problem then snowballs from there when other finance houses and investors get into the picture. why is that not considered a time bomb waiting to go off? Once people start defaulting on their loans then hong gan already.Originally posted by elindra:I have a borderline pass in economics but looking at the panic spreading, I would think they did it to prevent the markets from free falling and then ppl panicking and leading to a bank run.
