Are you trying to dissuade Jetta from coming back to Sg?Originally posted by av98m:btw Jetta, you do a search for Singapore in youtube and you can see all sorts of funny videos, including fights between neighbours, fights on buses etc![]()
Everytime I'm homesick I'll view these videos to remind me that I should stay here instead.Originally posted by av98m:btw Jetta, you do a search for Singapore in youtube and you can see all sorts of funny videos, including fights between neighbours, fights on buses etc![]()

Waa...you actually made them?Originally posted by jetta:Everytime I'm homesick I'll view these videos to remind me that I should stay here instead.
Oh and Wanda, I finally took pictures of the shopping bags I made. My kung fu not so good so please excuse hor.![]()
Not really, I just want her to come back with her eyes open, if she chooses to come backOriginally posted by Wanda:Are you trying to dissuade Jetta from coming back to Sg?![]()
COB = Close of businessOriginally posted by Wanda:What's COB?
I thot it's usual to tender after one has signed the new employment contract? Or it's possible for you do to all within today?![]()
I made a total of seven bags out of remnants. The Hawaiian print fabric I had left over from making curtains for my son's room. The stripey fabric is my favourite and I've had that for several years. I just couldn't think of what to use them for. I'm glad I waited.Originally posted by Wanda:Waa...you actually made them?So nice...and the 2nd one looks cute! Which part of your kung fu is not good? I can't tell.
Did you buy the fabric and canvas strips specially to make them?

I can see you're really good at the sewing...like the blue lining at the top of the stripey bag. That's a really nice detail. Do you have a sewing machine that can do fanciful and zig-zag sewing? I have a small one but I mostly use it to patch up lobangs. What a waste of the machine.Originally posted by jetta:I made a total of five bags out of remnants. Whenever I visit Sg, I will pay a visit to my favourite fabric shop at the old Causeway checkpoint and see what he has. I've come to know the uncle well and he always gives me a good price. Every time I visit Sg, I have to leave one suitcase empty to haul fabrics back.

Hey, this one looks exactly like those store-bought travel bags... like when you're travelling and you run out of packing space and need to get an extra bag to pack your shopping home....that kind of bag.Originally posted by jetta:Here's the first one I made. I used regular canvas so that I could learn from my mistakes before using better fabrics. The handles/webbing are the most expensive. US$2.50 a yard.
This is the binding I used for the edging. The fabric was too weak so I had to use a heat bonding sheet to adhere another fabric to reinforce it.Originally posted by Wanda:I can see you're really good at the sewing...like the blue lining at the top of the stripey bag. Maybe you should sell your home-made bags online.![]()
Thank you. That was the intention I had. The supermarkets and stores here have started selling canvas bags because San Francisco has banned plastic bags and other cities might follow soon. I refuse to buy canvas bags sold at the stores because they want US$5 for a simple and small bag. Even though it costs slightly more for me to do it myself, I don't care. At least I can customise the design and fabric. Besides, I have a boatload of remnants in my garage.Originally posted by Wanda:Hey, this one looks exactly like those store-bought travel bags... like when you're travelling and you run out of packing space and need to get an extra bag to pack your shopping home....that kind of bag.

Thank you but.... notice I didn't show you the seams. They are a mess!!! If I were to show you the stitching, you won't compliment me anymore.Originally posted by honeymouse:Wow, Jetta.... your canvas bags look so professional.Look like those you can buy from the shop.

Ahhh....i wish you are my neighbour, coz I have beent thinking about doing a small patchwork blanket for my foster cat (who's been "choping" on mine). Then I can collect different squares of fabric from you. That project will have to wait long long, anyway...Originally posted by jetta:Thank you. That was the intention I had. Wanda, I can mail you some swatches if you like. Most of my fabrics are from SG anyway so are you sure you want some?Originally posted by Wanda:Ahhh....i wish you are my neighbour, coz I have beent thinking about doing a small patchwork blanket for my foster cat (who's been "choping" on mine).
