It is indeed a good idea. At the very beginning, I sensed that they were trying to cover up the whole fiasco by asking me to pay the other guy directly. And making out a cheque to them would certainly add to the paper trail. And if anything goes wrong, I can use the paper trail to implicate them and absolve myself of any guilt.

Whatever the case, this whole fiasco has cost me a lot not just in terms of money. It has also cost me a lot of time and distress - and no amount of cab fares would be able to pay for all that.
And ultimately, they dumped a lot of crap on the goodwill and pleasant memories I had working at Sentosa. Now whatever good memories I have had working there have been smeared by this fiasco.
I think I should go now. Else I'll be seething with rage the whole day.

Did the person who screwed up take the responsibility to admit to management and try to fix the damage asap?
Is the Sentosa management so fucked up that they fire people over a single mistake? And if so, its likely that someone got fired anyway because they must have been made aware of the complaint to MOM
Why should fudgie be the one left holding the bag?
If my workplace is the kind that fire people over a mistake or two, I'd have been fired a ling time ago myself. -
