In other news....
.... I seem to have lost just under 4kg from two weeks of fasting.
In my previous years of fasting, I lose anywhere from 4 to 5kg from ONE MONTH of fasting. -

you know ... right now it's autumn here ... so the nights are longer and the days are short ....
my muslim friends here are "cheating " ... cos they follow the local dawn and dusk times ..... and it's like nothing to them to fast at all ... -

I spent my whole life denying religion, I took pride in being an atheist .... remember me poking fun at the happy clapper in this forum ? ..... But I did have a personal epiphanic moment ... it's hard to explain ... but everything sort of fell into place for me ....
in anycase .... even if religion is but just an emotional succor, a guiding light for our daily existence, then it's served it's purpose also, neh ? .... it's a cruel world we live in .... and if we can derive a certain comfort in faith .... why not ? .... it cushions our daily existence, no ? ...

and with that, faith can encompass everything. if one can suspend logic or reasoning to believe that god or religion, one can also suspend logic/reason to believe whatever other thigns there are in that religion. and it entails sort of blind belief. something i cannot come to terms with.
and yes i agree religion is not a totally bad thing and even if its an illusion or scam, as long as it heps others i guess. but on the other hand we have buggers like those terrorist and jihadist................. I guess all things have their pros and cons -

I guess I don't eat much when the time comes to break my fast in the evening. Normally I just eat about half a meal. The worst thing you can do after 13 1/2 hours of hunger is to subject your tummy to gluttony.... I sure as heck would get indigestion if I were to do that.
Anyway, with regards to those who can fast in autumn and winter, I see it this way: when the time comes for them to fast in summer when the days are long, they sure as heck would have a harder time.
