Fudgie, how about praying 80 times a day?Originally posted by fudgester:If you're travelling long distances (around >80 miles), you may be exempted from fasting.
Considering that he will be travelling the circumference of the earth 16 times a day (16 x 40000km, work out the math yourself), he can choose to not fast.
he has a lot of baggage on his shoulders ....... with all eyes on him ... I doubt the religious authorities would allow him that option ....Originally posted by fudgester:If you're travelling long distances (around >80 miles), you may be exempted from fasting.

So he is a space tourist thenOriginally posted by fudgester:Which brings me to the point of why I think this whole Malaysian astronaut thingie is just nothing more than a glorified stunt.
Considering the distances he has to travel, he can choose not to fast.
In fact, the general rules of praying state that when you're travelling long distances, you should simply follow the prayer timings of your starting point. Say that if I'm travelling from Singapore to New York, I should simply follow the prayer timings for Singapore en route until I arrive in New York. In fact, I will have the option of packing my prayers together and contracting them.
And since he's not doing any experiments, he's not going to further the pursuit of science.
Heck, he's not even gonna learn hands-on spaceflight engineering... so what's the point?
Like I said.... he can choose to exercise lots of flexibility when it comes to praying and fasting.Originally posted by av98m:About the whole praying/fasting thing, I wonder if he is under any pressure from religious groups in malaysia

In other news we trimmed our bushy Basil plant on Sunday
I put the cut leaves in a glass of water so that I can use the leaves another day
Yesterday, most of them grew roots
Anyone wants a free Basil plant
Small one![]()
