yet, our politicians (not just Singapore but every lea-duh on the planet) is pushing for population growth.. and growth..

would u choose to adopt instead of giving birth to your own children?
Actually this is one thing I have discussed with my hubby and my brother. one concern is that there are already so many children with dysfunctional families, orphans in the world - the supply is there - yet the demand for MORE CHILDREN cannot seem to help but continue. My hubby says he would like to have one biological child and he won't mind adopting more if we can afford it. I have friends who would consider only adoption due to this, and have chosen not to have their own children.
lots of people decide on this prior to meeting their Mr or Mrs.... and then attempt to convince their partner about their beliefs.Originally posted by the Bear:no Mrs Bear at all to think about either
hmmmm...... i used to think i want my own children but I can do without the father if he turns out crappy.,...Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:just wondering:

nodnod well.. Hmm... i think studies have shown that children definitely do better with a dad (normal human being, not another dysfunctional etc) than without.Originally posted by KittynMeow:hmmmm...... i used to think i want my own children but I can do without the father if he turns out crappy.,...
now i'm thinking it may be better to go without children.... hahahaha

ya.. but i am wondering about the conscious decision to have or not to have, and to adopt or not to adopt..Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Shro,
There is another mindset about children.
its about fate. Sometimes when you do want children, you arent gifted with any, even if either would be parents are healthy and able to have children.
When you do not want children, you have the luck to have children and so you have them.
And there is those, who by fate, either by chance meeting, almost like 'clicked' can be parents and children.
I am looking for that click.
Single motherhood is something I've been increasingly thinking about recently..... (yes someone should be worried abt that)....Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:nodnod well.. However, I think there are enough children out there with neither mom OR dad to flourish in a single mom only family.
But apparently, boys in single mom only families, tend to grow up with a lot of problems cos lack of male model figure.
Maybe I am abnormal.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:ya.. but i am wondering about the conscious decision to have or not to have, and to adopt or not to adopt..
due to reasons such as current overpopulation of the world, state of the world as of today and tomorrow. afterall you know your child will live on a depleted planet, and at the rate we are using resources - what sort of planet would that be when you are dead and your children still alive in 100 years time?
rather than the biological can or cannot.
