We now have our students spotting topics instead of trying to gain knowledge of what is being taught to them. The learning process has become secondary to getting the right answer.
I can still remember how one of my friends berated me for not spotting topics... to him, I am 'not studying smart'.
The topics which he didn't spot appeared most of the time, and he ended up faring worse than me. So who's the one who's 'not studying smart' now? -
See if you spot topics and fail you have something to blame on besides yourself if you fail

grrr.. just got into office..
was here early as usual, the office was still unopened...
so i went to get breakfast.. came back and it's still unopened with lots of people waiting outside the doors...
finally the buildings fella came to open the doors.. seems like the alarms refused to turn off and the doors could not open -

Which is why I say that that thread's an indication of the extent of the failure of our education system to produce educated people.... the ends of finding the answers justify the means of spotting questions, ignoring the very essence of education in the process. -

As it is, in a test I took just a few weeks ago, quite a few people tried to guess what the lecturer would want to test us on based on the trend of test papers in previous years.
Then the said lecturer pulled off a stone-cold stunner and threw us a question (which contained half the marks of the test) which had not been asked for years.
You should have heard the rantings and curses flying around in the class after the papers were collected. -

hahahah i remember something abt spotting questions.. think some students ask my teacher then if could help them to spot questions
then he said sure and said, these questions have a high likelihood of coming up... and produced this list
then end up... if you study all his 'spot' questions, it would have meant studying the entire book ANYWAY!
Guess that's his way of telling us... heeheehee
