Actually I wonder are we educating ppl or are we using them for ranking and sort

Plus there is no knowledge that is useless.
I mean you might have use for it and stop you from being embarressed on National Television if you decide to join in some quiz competition for example

today i was so tempted to use camera phone( although mine sucks) to take photo of a couple who decided to tongue and get all touchy-feely right in front of me on the bus for the whole trip.

you tried to study.. that's good..
many make excuses not to, or worse, make fun or scold others for trying to learn things which are not in the textbooks..
btw, come for fish head lah... there are other things and i can give you the personal alarm

It starts from the basic knowledge, and expand from there.
Same thing about Asia. Culturally, most countries in Asia share commonalities. This is one very powerful aspect considering that Asia is the BIGGEST continent in the world - it is information that has political impact, economical impact... for that matter.. ENVIRONMENTAL impact. As long as people in Asia don't understand how the importance of their contribution to environmental protection (as the biggest continent) - our environmental problems are going to persist. -

I probably apply only 10% of what I've learnt in school.
Can life-skills be taught the way we were taught in school? Hardly.
What we were taught was to the aim of acing exams.
Yet at the same time I laugh when I read about more 'interesting' ways of learning. To me, if you want to learn, you'll learn.
So conclusion, school should last only 4hrs a day at most. -

as i said i admit it can come in useful but generally i don't find them not knowing as something seriously lacking or that strange.
erm local things? i also dunno who the first president is and seriosuly i don't care. as long as know got first president and maybe if he did something significant enough le(don't have right? i think the only president to do somethign significant is ong teng chong {sp}) -

It starts from the basic knowledge, and expand from there.

samilarly with asia. you need to know the commonalities, that they have biggest impact, actually i believe it was due more to the population instead of the geographical size?
I'm not saying that any information is totally useless. I'm saying some information is more important than others and some less. -

no.. it's at the North Bridge Road market.. very near my office..
it's from a fishball noodle stall
i ordered it because i happened to sit just in front of it... bad mistake.. took over 20 minutes to arrive
