BTW, my Sears card arrived yesterday. Didn't realize it was a MasterCard--I though it would just be an ordinary store charge card. Anyway, I plan on cancelling the card after I get the bill for the TV and pay it off. -
It's hard to buy a small turkey or hamhock to feed 4 people. Even harder to make side dishes for finicky people. One doesn't like potatotes, two do. One doesn't like corn, two do. Hope your selling associate told you that there's a $25 annual fee with a Sears MC, waived the first year though. Did you get the Repair Maintenance Agreement? -

No, I did not sign up for the maintenance agreement. Most of such agreements are shams and cash cows for the retailers anyways. -

I know how people feel about extended warranties but after having gone through training and seeing people with irreparable products reap the rewards, I fully believe in the Sears agreement. Only because it goes over and beyond all others offered elsewhere. I'm not trying to make you buy it, just telling you what I know. -
Wow, over at appliances, we've never seen/heard of such a sign up promotion. I hope he told you the right thing. The only sign up "discount" you get back from signing up for a Sears MC is a $15 credit on your first statement. If you need clarification, you can call credit at 1800-917-7700. That was one of the first things I asked about when I spoke with the SA--whether or not it was free just for the first year, or in perpetuity. As for maintenance agreements, I hedge my bets by going with brands that have a proven track record of good reliability (in the case of my HDTV, I went with Panasonic). However, I can definitely see the worth of a maintenance agreement if one were to go with a brand with a less-than-stellar reliabiilty record, like Westinghouse, Phillips, any Korean brand, etc. -
