the price for manufacture between CDs and DVDs aren't that much different... so why the stupidity of it all?
Basically you manufacture different goods at slightly different costs, but charge them very differently so as to mark up the premium of the goods that are slightly more expensive to produce. -

uhh.. i bought the series of Cowboy Bebop on DVD for $49.95
the idiots were flogging episode 1-13 for $29.95 and 14-26 for another $29.95 VCD version...

price is really unfavourable to DVDs, even so variety makes it unattractive -

But they count on the gullibility of some consumers that the VCD version might be a better deal due to the low price of each set... some consumers may end up thinking that it would be better to buy one half now and the other half later due to the supposed low price of each set.
Hell, they even use psychological pricing to price the sets.... $29.95 instead of $30 to fool some consumers into thinking that it's in the lower $20 price category.
Which is why I say that that marketing module I took left me pretty sick. -
