Ha...I had wanted to give my daughter name as "yu tong (hanyu)", pronoun as Yee Tong but so happened an indian friend read is as You Tong. So the name never materialised

Well, a friend of mine once told me about a Malay friend of his who was named..... Anal (say: 'Ah-nal').
It's not a Muslim name, and it means nothing in Malay.... apparently his parents simply thought that it was 'cute' and sounded affectionate.
Guess they didn't realise what a major faux pas that would be in the English-speaking world.

its like the guys who are named zhihong and ended up cheehong. -
I can't remember any particularly weird names other than those that appear in the papers. My cousins stuck to pretty normal names when it came to christening their babies, 'Aiden' was about the most extraordinary it got.
My sister recalls a Malay ex-colleague called Juraimi. It seems like a difficult name to fault but her ex-boss was unable to get either his memory or his tongue around it - he was called everything from 'Jeremy' to 'Gurami'. -
How's this for names? A couple here named their two girls, Anasazi and Pocahontas.

Such parents are actually thinking more about themselves their their children. The kids become objects they can use to boast about their "creativity" (contrivity is a better description).
