Haiz, I kept getting failing mark after failing mark. At some point, you just stop trying, you know? The teachers I had were resigned to the fact that I would fail miserably. None of them took me aside to give me one on one coaching. So that was how I sailed along in secondary school. I didn't even want to turn up for the GCE Maths paper because I knew it would be a waste of time, but I sat for it anyway. people do change.. and i think i have throughout the years.. i'm no more the cold analytical thinker i used to be
still, i've always figured math can be learnt... everyone just needs their own time and a personal determination to do it... those things, and a patient teacher

My sec 4 chem teacher sucks at teaching. All she know is how to teach from the text or read off her slides. Then she gets frustrated when we don't understand because she can't explain clearly.
And then she tells our class, we should all drop Chem because we're going to fail our O levels anyway.. We're all hopeless..
ALL our class passed O levels Chem! She got so proud of herself.. but really, its not her credit... all of us had some other help from tuition teachers or self study groups..

if a teacher begin to look down on her students, there is really no point in continuing. does not make sense.
plus, those teachers who say those discouraging words, and then say "i am using reverse psychology'... should really see a psychologist. -

Everytime we tell him we don't understand... he just looks at us, and repeats everything before slightly slower and kind of hope that we would understand now that he 'slow down'
but we heard he had some mental breakdown when he was doing his doctorate, that is why end up teaching us. we thougth he was boring like siao but no long lasting angst abt him. -
i never had problems in school.. i was a nerd.... still am one
the only problems i had was art.. and being a lazy sod, i didn't bother to read up my literature at all.. so i just passed it.. much to the constenation of my teacher who yelled at me in a bemused way

My bio teacher was Chinese educated. She couldn't string a sentence without grammatical errors. It was horrible you know. After every sentence that came out of her mouth, I had to pause, think and restructure. And her pronounciation was terrible! She kept pronouncing acid as Ack-seed. Well, I've already talked about some mercenary teachers who are in it for the benefits and couldn't give a damn about what they teach.
Like for one of my former tuition students.... his Science teacher taught him that you can measure a pipe with a diameter of 4.19 metres using vernier calipers.... has anyone here seen vernier calipers THAT big?
And the kid was also taught that an atom of hydrogen contains '0.0008 neutrons'.... when neutrons are discrete and only exist in whole numbers.
The only conclusion I can make is that she got her degree from some online service based in Nigeria. -

Dude.... I'm not a chemistry major, and even I know that 1.00008 is the average Ar based on the relative concentrations of hydrogen, deuterium, and tritium.
With what she's doing, she might as well take statistics showing that there are '3.75 people' in the average Singaporean family and conclude that each family will have 1.75 of a child. -
