Anyways, I managed to get home without any further problems. Turned out the fire trucks, ambulance, and police cars were gathered at a junction near the 2nd tram stop where there was a bad two-car collision. I think of immediate concern was the wet ground near the badly dented car... could be petrol leaking from the tank!
Heng ah the tram driver tried to beat time by speeding. The public transport here have to submit monthly performance summaries to the public and if they fall below expected levels of performance, they have to pay fines to some public transport authority. I didn't mind him speeding - made the trip home faster!
Oh thank God... I live in a fantastic neighbourhood!
