Imagine turning to your wife to discuss something you just saw in the news... only to have her look back at you blankly, not understanding what you are trying to say, and then you try to explain things to her, but she really doesn't know a lot about a lotta stuff and you end up frustrated.
So you'll have someone to do the housekeeping, someone to sleep with and have kids with, but you won't have someone you can talk to, nor will you have someone you'll be proud to show off to your friends and relatives.
Think... worth it or not?
And a homesick bride is a nasty thing to have in the house.

I still can't believe it.... after ORD, I was going from organization to organization, begging them to fund my undergraduate studies, to no avail.....
..... and now, I have TWO graduate scholarships to choose from.
Dang.... I'm just a little man.....I think they're giving me shoes that are too big for my feet.

I'm too lazy to find out for myself, but are the fees for graduate studies a lot more expensive than undergrad studies?
Anyway, which offer are you inclined to take up?

Undergrad: $6100/year.
Grad: $10000/year.
I'm seriously thinking about which one to take up. Either one has its pros and cons.
The NUS Research Scholarship has fewer benefits: stipend of $2300/month, and all tuition fees paid.
However, the stakes are lower: if they do withdraw my scholarship halfway through, I don't have to repay anything. And there's no bond..... I'm a free man after I graduate.
The ENV Scholarship has more benefits: stipend of $3000/month, all tuition fees paid, and on top of that, I get allowances for books, a computer, conferences, and so on.
But the stakes are much higher: I think that premature termination of my scholarship (due to poor performance) would get me into deep, deep doo (I need to check again). And I'll be bonded to them for two years after graduation.
Arrrgh......
