you gotta go down yourself, pay the hospital for your record or letter and bring it down yourself..

IMO, hospitals should NOT charge for printing out your medical summary for you, well, not for the first copy anyways.
I think that patients who get admitted, are already paying for all the diagnostic tests that they need. Upon discharge, they should rightfully be given a copy of the Medical Summary of their stay FREE. Impose a charge only if they lose that copy and request for another, or if they request the hospital to search their old records for information.
The Medical Summary used to be given free upon a patient's discharge and I remember frowning on the practice of imposing a charge when I was working as a nurse back in Singapore.
However, it's still better than over here, where you don't even get a Medical Summary! Like... summary? Huh? What Summary are you talking about, mate?

Errr if you don't get a summary how do they keep track of your progress of your stay??
