  Highly highly unlikely. It's been seating there for years and with all the parts removed, I think the higher-ups decision is clear, and for once, I agree. The damage is really too great for it to be repaired. The rear that was chopped off, is gone case. And the larger portion was in only slightly better shape.

  If it's gonna be out for very long... Or for good. Why not put it to good use, reuse the scrap metal, or something. Instead of leaving it there to remind people of that dreadful day.

  Then again, leaving it there to serve as a reminder to current outgoing ships would be a good idea as well, to make them remember, and be alert/aware. So it does not happen again.

  You probably missed my account of dangerous shipping behaviours by some merchant vessels.

  But then the PVs themselves are sometimes at fault. RSS Daring once overtook my ship (that's always a BIG joke) with only 1-2 cables to spare.

  My furious CO, a LTC, called up Daring's CO, a Major, and screwed him upside down for that potentially dangerous act.

  The ship was a total wreck as the ship snapped and the rear sank, while the front struck the merchant vessel's bow fiercely. Even if the exterior shows little damage, the internal parts would definitely have been a goner.
