Quite a rat race.....remember the Sunday Times writing about the children's sleep-time?
I recall sleeping at 10 sharp every night in Primary school. So I thought: Wow.....these kids are so hardworking. Turns out there's a lot of unnecessary things involved.
So who's to blame? The parents? The kids? The teacher?

A lot of persistent ones.
I must say the novelty is wearing off.....there's only so many times you get a PM with the same lines before it gets tiresome.![]()

It's easy to be a armchair critic, but then I think he did play a part in the rat race.
But then it's up to the individual to decide how they want to run their lives.

It's all because of some ultra-siao on parents who supposedly 'want the best for the kids'.
Must have piano lessons, ballet lessons, French lessons, individual tuition for each subject, etc etc....
Heck, I've seen tuition ads for lower primary kids and..... kindergarten.
Tuition for kindergarten!!! ![]()

i say that because how many "pre-school play classes" are actually hothousing the little brats?
how and why the hell do pre-school places have things like curriculum and all that?
Working = No life.
Studying = No life.
And that's where you hear people who got their timing scheduled by their parents in childhood to study study and study say this.
It's not a good cycle
Actually sometimes have to sit down and ask ourselves... e current gen and e future gen of Singaporeans
Wat do we want to instill into e future gen's mind? To be kiasu no 1 in everything by learning lots of dunno wat in young age w/o growing up happily? I do not know in tis, has it also unknowingly caused society to be more ungracious?
Or to be one that grows up happily, has the freedom to pursue what type of education path they want (I'm talking abt some having reservations abt their kids studying in Poly these days even) and learn to have a compassionate heart by understanding others?
To me, still the most basic is the integrity and character of the person before anything else.
and again it's all because of parents using their kids to outdo each other and saying "it is for your own good"
Personally, I think freedom of choice is best. Unfortunately it can be abused. Hearing parents say that their 3 year old child wishes to learn faster than everyone makes me wonder if that was really what that kid meant.
frankly, parents make the decisions, you make the decisions, i make the decisions...
where the hell do people who do not matter and care even less like lau lee or other farktards in society come in?
if you choose a life, you don't have to participate in the rat-race...
take the bus, drive a smaller car, live in a smaller flat.. use the time to spend with your family, smell the roses, admire the sunset...
or are you a lemming, rushing headlong with the crowd even to your own death?
anyway reading PAP Times online updates
saying abt resolving traffic gridlock is because of the economy... I see the words of ERP countless of times in e article, but not COE

As a kid, there's very little power you wield. Some parents like to take advantage of that and try to use their kids to improve their "standing".
But then most of the kids who grow up end up running on their four legs later in life. Of these, most are in the healthy range. Some don't fall in that category.

if the kid really says it him or herself, it comes w/ responsibilities
and also e parents cannot force more if later on e kid really cannot cope

Time to think up of another novel idea......I think ERP is a noble plan over-executed.

Some parents actually twist the logic behind what their kids say, blinded by the rat race, and actually up the notch.
