Just got school.
Had to go to Bukit Batok just now to pick up a couple of thermocouple probes I ordered.
Now I just realized.... I need an ancient RS-232 cable for the data logger that I have!
It's so ancient that the NUS IT Co-Op actually laughed at me when I asked them whether they have it.... they told me to go to Sim Lim to buy it.

sometimes I think the people doing the supplies/procurement have the wrong KPI. instead of providing everything that people need, its more like..how much money can they not spend. -

you guys have it good. sometimes the things they are outsourcing doesn't make sense. doing it internally would be much more efficient and most probably cheaper too. IT systems and network is one example....... -

but's a direct hit on our profit and loss...which means we gotta double up the revenue. i guess this way we have more control. -
Sometimes outsourcing can be good also. But basically it all boils down to budgeting of the company

i think our side, we have braindeaths who don't give a shit about the expenses of others..
they save on expenses = their KPI met..
however, we have to spend more because of their actions = our expenses, not their business..
