I never drink alcohol when on a diving trip, and I make sure my dive buddy abstains too. And gets enough sleep before diving. I can be quite a nazi on trips

I think the people going diving know better to drink and dive.. so they will only drink AFTER the whole diving thing..

Really ar
My cousin's friend just suffered from kidney failure coz of all the diving trips he goes to
Apparently every night it ended in some kind of 'Who can guzzle the most beer' competition

You are so wrong. Lots of people drink until roaring drunk, party the whole night, and also have sex the night before diving

i think even without the diving, guzzling alcohol every night will kill all kidney cells.

maybe he's been going on a different kind of "diving" .... the urban, terrestrial kind ? .....
no self-respecting or responsible dive master would allow someone hung over to dive .... and no diver worth his certification should either .....
I blame all these fly-by-night operators around ....

you go diving ... don't you?
Yup, I do dive and have been diving for 8 years. In fact, I am leaving for a dive trip in Manado this weekend.
Divers are taught not to over-indulge in alcohol just before diving. But, there are always morons who don't understand simple instructions and concluded that they are the "coolest" creatures around.
We all know there is no cure to stupidity.

phuket live-on-boards are not representative of the dive industry ...

That might also sound like the day I ORD.....I hope that beer we embarked disappear by then!

I work in a mid-sized bank, not the infamous banks that you read on the newspaper on a daily basis (thank god!), and definitely not CFO-caliber since I don't think I can post 4300 post in a year, or afford a First Class Round the World air ticket, yet.

Tare> I am at the lifestage whereby I can enjoy my life, without living on a shoe string. I am sure there are guys or ladies out there we are similar as me, and looking for people who are similiar as well. Most of my friends are foreigners, so I thought it will be good to know other Singaporeans who are also at the similiar situation as me, or more friends regardless where you are from. I have quite a lot of hobbies, so am sure it will be more fun to try it with someone than doing it alone right? Unless everyone here only post on the forum and do not step 2m away from their PC, beside toilet breaks, then I might be in the wrong forum...
Chunseah> Getting an expat bf do not solve the problem. Relationships comes and goes. Friends tend to hang around longer. In any case, I actually prefer to date a (smart) chinese guy.
you wanna bet? i'm only suddenly being free when the kids grew up
enjoy your stay. we are a group of people with something common. FOOD!!!

Try reading my first post (you know the part where I said "Most of my (male & female) friends are foreigners and/or expats, but I am pretty sure that there are Singaporeans or maybe more foreigners, who are at the same life stage as me.).
I am not lonely or seeking companionship. If there are people around who are similiar to me, young, single, well educated, well travelled, well paid and always up to meet more new friends, or try new things, its good. Forum is merely an option to know more interesting people, right? Or I got it all confused with the definition of "bitch-fest"?
Of course, if I am in the wrong place, I will just stick with my caucasian friends, because "I am so easily impressed by caucasians and don't make any effort to hang out with Singaporeans".
p.s. sense of humour do help when it comes to reading my words.
So if I don't under these categories "young, single, well educated, well travelled, well paid", would you still be interested to be my friend?

The extent of a friendship is not based on your age, educational level, how much you have travelled or how well you are paid. It should be dependent on how well we get along, right?
Of course, if you enjoy knitting on a Friday night, and your idea of a vacation involved following a flag behind a tour guide, we might have a problem "clicking".
