That's a high surcharge....
Anyway, we don't really rely on cab here (in Oz) that much as they are too expensive and Oz itself is quite big and it takes at 30 min to travel from A to B. It will burn a big hole in our hip pocket.....

Is there a special lane for taxi and buses in Singapore?
That's one of the reasons I choose to catch the train to work as at least I don't have to worry about traffic jam.
I guess the F1 is probably making the traffic worse....

The biggest surcharge is the midnight surcharge, which increases taxi fares by 50% from midnight to 5:59 AM. A close second is the peak period surcharge, a premium of 35% from 7 AM to 9:30 AM from Monday to Friday, as well as from 5 PM to 8 PM from Monday to Saturday.

Are they trying to discourage people to use the cab or what? It's like a day time robbery....Over here I can understand it is expensive.... and also a lot of cab drivers are risking their lives as there had been few cases that cab drivers got murdered by their passengers.... very scary!
