hihi mid,
i've used wowtunnel before it does reduce the lat - i got mine from 500ms to ~300 or even 100+ sometimes. however the tunnels seem unstable on load. edon and i kept d/c during one sun MH session and at that time we both were on wowtunnels - turned that off and d/c stops so...
anyway im using a registry setting to disable Nagle's algorithm which *seems* to reduce my lat from 500ms+ to a steady 300+ now.

hehe, your reply so official .. Tyty .. So wowtunnel no good? My only fear is that i understand thru VPN the owner can actually get your pass and ID .. Not that i have like 8/8 T6 or wat but it's my hardwork >< so i dunwan to risk it .. Last night in Mh, when AoE start my ping shoot up to 800+ .. So piss off .. And and and .. how do u do it?
I just need to input DWORD TcpAckFrequency under the right path and set value to 1?

oops my bad lol - job hazard there haha.
well actually blizz supposedly disabled nagle's in a patch however the registry change reduces lat *still* more..
heres more accolades of disable nagle's:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=3881819584&sid=1&pageNo=1
and how to disable it, but NOTE - disclaimer it might affect your other apps depends on what you have on your pc:
as for wowtunnels - they use ssh which to my knowledge all information passed is encrypted if they were to really breakdown your data they will need quite some huge hardware to go through their many users to get a/c passwords - too much effort imho.
Haa ..
The tweak below allows for tweaking or disabling Nagle's alogrithm. Disabling "nagling" allows for very small packets to be transferred immediately without delay. Note that disabling Nagle's algorithm is only recommended for some games, and it may have negative impact on file transfers/throughput. The dafault state (Nagling enabled) improves performance by allowing several small packets to be combined together into a single, larger packet for more efficient transmission. While this improves overall performance and reduces TCP/IP overhead, it may briefly delay transmission of smaller packets. Keep in mind that disabling Nagle's algorithm may have some negative effect on file transfers, and can only help reduce delay in some games. To implement this tweak, in the registry editor (Start>Run>regedit) find:
This setting configures the maximum number of outstanding ACKs in Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{NIC-id}
There will be multiple NIC interfaces listed there, for example: {1660430C-B14A-4AC2-8F83-B653E83E8297}. Find the correct one with your IP address listed. Under this {NIC-id} key, create a new DWORD value:
TcpAckFrequency=1 (DWORD value, 1=disable, 2=default, 2-n=send ACKs if outstanding ACKs before timed interval. Setting not present by default).
For gaming performance, recommended is 1 (disable). For pure throughput and data streaming, you can experiment with values over 2. If you try larger values, just make sure TcpAckFrequency*MTU is less than RWIN, since the sender may stop sending data if RWIN fills witout acknowledgement.
Also, find the following key (if present):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters
Add a new DWORD value:
TCPNoDelay=1 (DWORD value, 0 to enable Nagle's algorithm, 1 to disable, not present by default)
To configure the ACK interval timeout (only has effect if nagling is enabled), find the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{NIC-id}
TcpDelAckTicks=0 (DWORD value, default=2, 0=disable nagling, 1-6=100-600 ms). Note you
can also set this to 1 to reduce the nagle effect from the default of
200ms without disabling it.
This is wat i found out .. Do i just input one DWORD value? Or do i need to input the rest as stated above?
one impt qns, would this be consider as 3rd party software? blizz like to suka suka suspend account de leh >.< *innocent victim here*
Yes, Wowtunnel is a third party software .. And its only sooner or later WoW will ban those who are using.
aye mid, those settings in red are the ones i use, exactly :)
as you can see if anything adverse happens just have to remove/change back those settings, its pretty straightforward and you *will* see lat drop. haha try it and compare in wow to see.
wowtunnels i've used previously for ~1 month and blizz didnt ban my account, its more of a network change rather than playing around with the client etc. check out the faqs on:
http://www.wowtunnels.com/faqs
but! becos the tunnels are sometimes loaded they will d/c your client so.. in lieu of that i went the nagle's disable way
Just the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{NIC-id}
will do right?
the xx\interfaceid} is the registry store for all the network interfaces you have. At the right panel you have to go through all the interface to find which one you use - the interface you use should register your LAN IP address. Then for that interface, you have to add in this new key TcpAckFrequency=1
After this is done you still have to do the other:
Also, find the following key (if present):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters
Add a new DWORD value:
TCPNoDelay=1
i did not do the last entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{NIC-id}
TcpDelAckTicks=0
hope this helps :) cheers and seeya online soon
the codes making me giddy >.<
Hmm .. it realli did improve .. From 600+ to 300+
elemental shamans are one of the worst class around now.. dont even bother comparing your dps to them..
blizzard just seems to hate shamans, nerfing them with almost every patch.
like wtf is a 5 point talent skill for party buff when a single point talent in the hunter's tree gives the same.. and DK's are slowly replacing our totems anyway..
GG shamans..
I think they want shammies as healers?
No idea. Mages climbed up a little on the dps meters but they are pretty much where they are
The good thing is that we no longer have mana issues in raid these days thanks to all the batteries around
Btw Mil, did you see Amb's post on the guild forums
