Also good for stacking them on the kitchen floor and putting your pestle and mortar atop to pound on - it's ergonometrically better for your back, and it absorbs the awful noise it makes when you pound so you don't disturb your neighbours living below you.

What a mess!! 
When I had cats, they were my lizard exterminators. Lizards are good, actually, they do no harm and in fact, they help to get rid of insects. However, I had a cat, Meiji, who would spot a lizard high up on the wall, and wail pathetically at me until I carried her up so she could swat at it.
The times when I refused, she'd just sit at the foot of the wall wailing pathetically non-stop until I relented. -

Yeah, try all of that, if not, there's always "conflict", "disagreements", "fights", etc.

which reminds me of yesterday when I went to the CRC to dispose of some rubbish then when I stepped to open the bin cover, got one roach suddenly crawl out..
shocked so i released the "pedal" to close the chute, the roach dropped to the floor & just stepped on it..

Yuuuuuucks!! I hate that 'crunchy' sensation when you step on a cockroach! Worse, it's usually a crunchy sensation, followed by a slight sliding and losing of balance because the slime and squished out innards and cockroach juices kinda make it slippery!
