already on tv still need to clear this and that.. i think they are some kind of control freaks or something...
the starworld telecasts were censored(certain scenes removed). But DVDs cannot be. so I guess that's why I can't buy them.

the quality of the downloads is awesome as they were recorded off HD broadcasts in the US. I burn them into CDs and watch them on my DVD player and LCD TV. even with compression, looks as good as the cable telecasts. no pixelation even in the action scnes. best of all, NO commercial breaks.

Broadband plans here are ridiculous so I end up just waiting for DVD sales. I'm waiting for the price for Dexter Season 2 to fall. I presume in the days to come, with the looming recession, there will be better sales everywhere.

if you like those big family type dramas, I highly recommend Brothers and Sisters. Really good cast and story. Rob Lowe (who plays a senator in the show) is so frikking pretty I want to lick his face.
av, I can see why you like Osen.
The episodes are all short and sweet. I just finished watching the episode where the previous chef was given the mobile vendor's cart.
So touching, I cried and cried! ![]()
I watched Le Grand Chef yesterday too! I waited ages for the original to arrive, but it never did. Instead, the pirated version was right there, waiting. I finally caved in and got it. Really wonderful movie!! ![]()
I'm still asking for that Japanese Food Detective special that was shot in Hong Kong but no one has ever heard of that before!
Hmm... was that series called Kuishin No Tantei or something like that?

THE Brothers and Sisters starring Calista Flockhart? It was screened here months ago but I turned it off within the first 10 mins because I thought it was B-O-R-I-N-G! ![]()
I'm still eyeing the CSI Seasons 1-5 in a special metal box set.
Waiting for sales... ![]()
Hmmm... where is everyone else? Honeymousey? tare? cassie? Pinky??
*me mysteriously appears in a puff of smoke*
I had tau huay for breakfast just now.
While I was eating, I just remembered..... does eating beancurd really make one's lightsaber less.... potent?

I only remember the chinese name for that series, so can't help you there. Maybe I should just send it over to you lah.
Le Grand Chef: The part where his pet cow went to the slaughterhouse was so heartbreaking!

So did I at first. But its worth watching and keeps getting better! Its like the novel Lord of the Rings...the first 200 pages or so were coma inducing boring!

I don't know since I don't wield a lightsaber myself.
But I think the saying might stem from the fact that soya beans and soy products have high levels of phytoestrogen (plant-based estrogen) and regular consumption of large doses have been known to interfere with the body's functions, the way excessive estrogen does.
I don't think it actually affects one's lightsabre, but it might affect one's libido, esp if one's testosterone levels aren't that high in the first place.
Makes sense?
You would have to consume like a lotta lotta tau huay in order to get too much phytoestrogen though!
Ok I caved in and bought 2 dwarf puffers yesterday
So cute and adorable that cost 80 cents each

No need to send it to me! Thanks though! I'm sure eventually, it'll turn up here. A tad strange though cause so far, we've been getting the Mandarin / Cantonese / Jap and Korean movies and what-not somewhat sooner than you guys.
For instance, the very popular Korean series, "Iljimae" (Yi4 Zhi1 Mei2) has not reached Singapore shores yet, right?
Oh yeah... that part was so sad I cried!
The part where the cow walked along the path, and then stopped and turned its head sideways to glance behind at him, made me cry even more!
And the two parts where it had tears flowing... I cried soooo hard!!

You know, movies like that really make you want to personally strangle the evil guy! ![]()

Photos!! Photos!!! I've not seen them on sale here! Are they freshwater or marine? Somehow, I always thought puffers were marine.
too much soy = too much phytoestrogen or something like that..
in other words, your testosterone is overwhelmed by the estrogen-like substance..
oh.. guy in the office.. his wife gave birth on saturday.. he's now incapacitated because yesterday, while carrying his other child, he threw out his back... he's now at the clinic to see what the hell happened to his back
will be ordering and sending a hamper for his wife and baby later... ![]()

have been taking soy protein supplements after my workouts. yup, it messed up my estrogen levels initially - think it's more product adjustment more than anything. in any event, like rhonda says...you'll need lorry loads of that stuff before the lightsaber "malfunctions".

Think a few years ago, I read some article that claimed that if women were to take too much phytoestrogen, the risks of breast cancer might increase somewhat.
But then again, these days, anything that's not endorsed by a legitimate medical institute or not a proper, carefully researched medical / nursing journal I tend to take with a pinch of salt.
