I've placed an order to sacrifice a goat on Hari Raya Haji.
My dad insists that I sacrifice the goat myself.

maybe fudgie can soak a hanky with chloroform or something ? ....
conk the furry mammal out ....
I execute fishies this way too .... dump them into the cooler full of ice slurry and they go fast and painless ....

well ....
a goat's furry, and a mammal .....
some critters are easy to kill .... crabs and lobsters and what not I'll toss them into the freezer first .... put them to sleep before executing them ....
the hardest would be those big siamese snakeheads .....
their skulls are thick .... I'd bring out my camping axe if I have to despatch a big one .... and you'd see their heads still twitching and the eyeballs still staring at you even after you've sliced them off ....
that's why I don't go snakehead fishing often ...

snakeheads are tough.. the traditional way is to bash the head in but like you said, they've hard heads..
i thankfully never had to despatch one myself.. saw the fishmonger's hugeass wound on his hand once.. he got bitten by a snakehead
i find newspapers are your best bet to grab hold of fish..

that is good....i remember someone from the volunteer group in a temple told me this :
some pple come in benz, stepped out are their grandparents as an senior citizen dressed shabbily...these "grandparents" approached the counter and are given free packets of rice, canned food and ang pows with cash..
then they carry their takings to the benz and being whizzed away by the grownup kids...

there's this army officer once .....
who was conducting the Combat survival course .....
they had a goat there ... which was supposed to be despatched with a bayonet as part of the demonstration .....
as you know ... the training bayonets are all pieces of shit cos they were all repeatedly used on the old tire scarecrows .....
the bayonet in question only succeeded in tickling the goat's neck .... so the officer finally got pissed off, threw down the bayonet ... bent down ... and used his teeth instead ....
the goat died bleeting .... a couple of chaps went off meat for a few days, and the officer earned the nickname "wolverine" from then on ...
