not as close as the blade but i don't get lots of bloodspots after and my face doesn't feel as sore

Try the Gillette Fusion Power.... that's what I'm using.
I was initially very reluctant to put a vibrating five-bladed razor to my face..... but it works very well. The 'drag' on my face is reduced, it cuts cleanly, and I rarely nick my face.
My face also doesn't get sore from using it..... in contrast, the Mach 3 often left my face smarting, forcing me to apply aftershave.

doesn't matter.. got a new electric razor so i'll use it
