try wat? make bread with 3 blocks of butter ?
the recipe is there for a reason ..
baking is something that if you don't follow the recipe .. u will fail .. haha .. not like cooking .. can be more creative ..
Making bread with three blocks of butter?!!
You won't get bread... you'll just get a soggy, moppy mess of greasy, buttery goo that smells fragrant but won't look palatable! ![]()

haha. point taken. but the job of the oil is simply to make sure the tough doesn't stick to the pan right. I think butter can do the same? I'll go ask around. ![]()

I used 3 tablespoonfuls of oil in the recipe, I was thinking of using the same amount of butter
Say, if you like butter so much, av, why not try making croissants or flaky pastry?
I don't have the counter space to bake, but someday I'd love to make flaky pastry from scratch! Fold-roll, fold-roll... the best flaky pastries have about a hundred folds. Amazing!

Three blocks of butter is not equivalent to 3 tablespoonfuls of oil. ![]()
Can I ask a personal question?

I think my favourite Japanese White Bread from Bread Top (it's Bread Talk but slightly different twist to its name here) has butter in it. That's why it's so soft and fragrant... and greasier than other breads! ![]()

I notice that you all have just been talking about food day in, day out, so my sixth sense been telling me that most of you must have put on quite some weight. Is it a 30s thing or what?

It's a great idea! I heard a friend tell me that with breadmakers, all you do is just put the ingredients into the machine and it does everything for you, is that true? Don't you have to mix the ingredients first? I always thought you have to knead it and THEN throw the dough in... ![]()

no need .. if its a normal bread ..
if u add additional stuff like nuts etc .. u just have to add it at a different timing ..
Ooh, boolooey, you reminded me - Gardenia used to bake this special fruit loaf that retailed for about SGD 4.00 every Christmas season. Do they still sell that?

Really?!! How does the machine mix the ingredients then? So it has a dough hook and mixing element inside as well? ![]()

no kneading! just toss everything in the right order and let the machine to all the work. throw in the extra ingredients like mixed fruits etc when the machine beeps in the middle of the baking cycle. so easy even I can use one. ![]()

Honestly, what is it to you if others gain or lose weight?
