Actually the cost of setting up an aquarium overseas is damn scary
It's really very cheap to do so in Singapore
I mean just look at Missy's aquarium....the set-up cost shocked me
we don't talk that often....and really. phone cards here are not expensive. muahaha! though yes, in the long run, skype is still probably cheaper.
and no the influx of asian immigrants won't do much good. the time of good immigrants is over.
and it's not canadians that are not entreprenuerial enough. it's....not something you can explain simply in a few lines. it will involve geography, history, etcetcetc...

In Singapore, you will have that set-up for less than 20 SGD if it's just the plastic tank and fish

I agree with you about the immigrants bit .... canada's letting in all and sundry nowadays .... but then that's a mistake Singapore's making on an even bigger scale ... ![]()
and I tell you why canadians are not entreprenuerial enough .... life is too good .... no one in school talked about striking out on your own ... why would you want to slog, when you can graduate and make 3-4k a month starting, pat your backside and leave by 6 every day and go off to the cottage by the lakes in the summer, and go down to mexico in the winter ? ...
I don't think the asian immigrants are any more entreprenuerial than the native born ... just that previous deprivations force them to slog harder than others .... plenty of second and third generation migrant offsprings I see exhibit the same traits as the native born too ... ![]()

eh fatum...u think life is so simple and everything can be explained so simply? living there for those few years might have given you some insight as to how life in canada is etc. but it's a huge country, you have people from various places etcetcetc. hehe.
i won't say what you said is 'wrong'. but it definitely is not 'right' either. it's never 'right' when you can label a whole country in so few words....

of course it's never that simple ...
but if one doesn't distil the world into a simpler picture, then one can never be able to grasp and comprehend it, neh ? ....
if everyone were to just say "oh, it's never that simple", or "not all's like that" or "you're generalizing" then no one would be able to take a stand on anything, normative or otherwise, neh ? .... ![]()
with regards to putting things in ways more 'simple' that it 'should' be, that's how most things are. which i feel is dangerous. to simplify anything, it would mean you have to take things out. and often-times, you take out things that might be contraversial, more difficult for certain groups of people to understand, blahblahblah. you don't get the whole picture. you see only one side. etcetc...i'd rather a person not understand than to think he/she/it understands when really, he/she/it doesn't really.
as for the other one.......'everything is a social contruct'. that's the only 'stand' i can make. and even then........heh. but, this is just me.

you just switched majors to sociology issit ? ... ![]()
distiling the world into a simpler picture doesn't mean taking things out, but it gives you a framework to to put things into clearer perspective for you ...
people do it all the time in academia as well ....that's what academia is about, explaining the artificial and natural phenomenas of the world in only so many words, to simplify things, to wrap it around into a theory ....including your current major, no ? .... ![]()

NOT socio...! noooooooooooooooo...though at one point, i did consider it. but...no. not my thing really. i've gone from psych to socio to international development to asian studies. not sure if i've missed anything out. haha. i've finally found something i like. anthro. hahahaha...
hmm....even in what we study, things are left out. the profs could be biased. the textbook authors could be biased. whether it's deliberate or not is another thing. no theory is perfect. which is why i think a BA in many things isnt such a big deal. because at the end of it, there's still A LOT one doesnt know. etcetcetc
ho-hum. this is good to talk about. not to TYPE about. are your fingers not tired? lol.
anyway, do any of your body parts feel really sore when you're really tired?? like...overdose of lactic acid on that part of something...??? my left leg feels almost paralysed or something now. and i know it means i really really need sleep >.<
i come in and i see this... ![]()

of course there is a bias .... even in the natural sciences .... it all depends on whether you can give a convincing enough bullshit or not .... good bullshit becomes accepted theory, till it gets supplanted by even better bullshit, or at least, bullshit which disproves the older, accepted bullshit ... and the new bullshit becomes the accepted bullshit, also known as theory .... and so it goes on, but we've digressed far from the entreprenuership of canucks .... ![]()
I think your left leg's score maybe cos you're slouched down on your left buttcheek ? ... it happens to me sometimes .... pins and needles too ... ![]()
my legs cramp up at night when i zzz - which is probably a reminder for me to take 100Plus everytime i do my hour long cardios
