cos it can be used a pesticide against ka zua
think they should be more concerned about the skin cancer since it's predominately guys in the SAF...

1. The ovarian cancer risk appears to be for those women who apply talc in generous amounts over a lifetime. Not very applicable to recruits.
2. The study that showed the decrease in libido was applicable to very high levels of boric acid. And boric acid is present in negligible amounts in the talcum powder.
3. As for camphor, the article itself stated:
'.... medicinal use of camphor is discouraged by the FDA, except for skin-related uses, such as medicated powders, which contain only small amounts of camphor....'
The blogger is just being sensationalistic.
Using his logic, I can just as well argue about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide.

I used Prickly Heat powder back then as well.
Not that I didn't trust SAF powder..... just that Prickly Heat is so much better. Even my sergeants told us to bring it along with us (but we had to wrap black tape around the bottle to make it more tactical).
And no.... I think my little buddies are still the same size as ever after using it. ![]()
