Bathe in the friggin ice-cold midnight Tekong water!
I shivered like mad and it gave me a damn splitting headache and cramps here and there.
And then I measured my temperature knowing something is really wrong by now. 40 degs.
My reaction was: Oh.
Yikes.
There's an ongoing debate on this in the paramedic textbooks.
One school of thought says that you should never immerse a heat casualty in an ice bath.... the reason being that water in the first place conducts heat poorly from the body, and that the induced shivering may actually worsen things.
After all, the whole point of shivering is to generate heat.
of course i didn't do it.. it was courtesy of zora ![]()
oh.. on History Channel, they're showing Blood Diamonds...
the mayhem and atrocities are unbelievable to those who do not know...

nope.. they forget that water takes away heat hell of a lot faster than shivering can do.. which is why there is hypothermia of shipwrecked people

I can still remember the textbook during my Spec II talking about this and presenting the arguments put forth by the two schools of thought.
Ah, well. The way I see it, in most cases it'll take more time to draw an ice-cold bath and dunk the fella in than to just rush him to the medical center and get them to use that infernal sprinkler/industrial fan system.
Back from watching House. The Thirteen-Foreman kissing scene was rather contrived.
I'm glad that life's back to normal again. I'd been skipping sleep once every 2 or 3 nights for the past week.

I watched the movie a few days ago..... not too bad.
Scotty and (especially) Sulu were both miscast, methinks..... when I look at John Cho, I keep thinking of him as Harold from Harold and Kumar. ![]()
Spock was good, and bringing in Leonard Nimoy as the older Spock was brilliant.
And Chekov's accent was damn cute!
