It allows the kid freedom to run a bit, but within a certain limit ..
However, I feel that its not the right way to teach the kid. Kids gotta learn that when they are outside, they better don't run around, stay close to the parents ...

It's easier than having to chase after the kid or bend over and grab the hand/shoulder/etc all the time.
It doesn't damage the kid either. We're just not socially accustomed to seeing it.

a playpen is wat i put bubble in when we all go out... and tat pen is the same of my bed okie! >.<prolonged caging of a dog is oledi considered cruelty...

I think some times the kids don't learn and the leash is a way to let the kid learn. This allows the kid to get hurt somewhat if some guy happens to step on it without noticing beforehand and yet at the same time keep it out of mortal danger.

i had a friend who got it for her son cos her son likes to run but not stable at all... with the leash she can hold him back if he falls forward...i think tis is better than those parents who's too lazy to hold their kids and just pushing them ard in a pram... and i'm talking abt those kids tat's 4-5 yrs old!

if i have a kid, i will never want to leash my kid up, like a dog. i believe this is something like, illegal confinement. even though it's not illegal, but i just feel that way.
