2 new species of stingray has been found in the Amazon.. they both look like "pancakes with noses"
you can read all about it => here
Roti Prata lah...........how much they sell in the Amazon ?
Today's edition comes to you courtesy of the Tarantula Hawk Wasp
yes, it is as scary as it is big... it flies around looking for tarantulas or the tarantula lairs... where it goes into the lair or just stings the hell out of the giant spider..
the sting does not kill the spider but causes it to become paralysed... where the wasp then lays an egg on the spider..
the egg hatches and om nom noms on the spider, leaving the vital organs for last so that it has fresh meat...
then it pupates and turns into another one of these giant spider hunting scary monsters..
mother nature is hardcore!

My latest pet (still with my friend)
Lophiosilurus alexandri aka Pacman catfish
There is a reason why it's called the Pacman catfish
is that your smoked cod u were talkin about?
here's today's episode... it's not that strange but it's absolutely terrifying
Giant Amazonian Centipede
and they get bigger than that.. up to the size of a man's forearm
what makes them so terrifying is that they are not content with eating carrion or whatever crap is lying around, they are active hunters..
here's one eating a mouse it has caught..
and even more terrifying is this
they are known to climb up caves and hang down, waiting to ambush bats (BATS!!!) and then biting them and killing them with venom then eating the bat!!
again, mother nature is hardcore!

smart enough to harvest the poisonous ones along with the not-so-poisonous ones, so that it will have fresh food the whole winter...

actually no.. not others will not steal its food..
the poisons kinda lose their potency and degenerate into benign chemicals which do not affect the pika...
sorta like our buah-keluak is buried in ash for some time, the poisons become other compounds and yumminess...
here's today's installment.. brought to you by the Insect Kingdom... it is the..
Ant Decapitating Fly
see the little fly hovering above the ferocious fire-ant? it's going to turn the ant into a zombie!
it scuttles around (thus it is also called the Scuttle Fly) and then sticks an egg into the ant... which quickly hatches and moves into the head of the ant...
it then eats the brain of the ant... BRAAAAAINS!!!!
but strangely, the ant is still able to do its usual things while the larvae of the fly is om nom nom-ing the rest of the ant...
after it is done with the om nom nom, the larvae then secretes some kind of stuff which dissolves the neck muscles of the ant and the head falls off.. the thing then develops into an adult fly and come out of the head to go lay eggs on other unsuspecting fire-ants..
now gentle readers... repeat after me...

That footage is not complete....because moments later, the angel shark spat out the little horned shark, which as it turns out, was more the devil than even this devilish shark.
Snot Otter - Hellbender
Hellbenders are one of the largest salamanders in the world, growing to over 2 feet long. Their cousins in China and Japan, the Chinese and Japanese giant salamanders, can grow to an enormous 5 to 6 feet long and can weigh as much as 100 lbs! Hellbenders are only found in the mountains and foothills of the eastern United States, generally in streams that flow to the Mississippi River. They once thrived in thousands of pristine streams in the Ozark and Appalachian mountains, and throughout the Ohio River valley.

The Wa Wa Yu are Mud Puppies la
time to bring you another "weird" creature.. this one is cute as all heck.. but is reminiscent of... Vlad the Impaler!
it is the Shrike which is also known as the Butcher Bird
it is a cute little bird which is an active hunter.. but its dining habits are distressing
here is one which has impaled a mouse on a spike...
they tend to impale their prey on spikes to let them die or to let the toxins in some of their prey degenerate so that they can dine on their prey safely...
they are most happy with the human invention of the barbed wire which they use as their personal buffet table with their impaled prey
sometimes, cute things in nature are still hardcore as hell
