GEORGE TOWN, MALAYSIA - A confused secret society gang member accidentally shot two brothers in his gang.
The brothers, in their 30s and 40s, were shot in a scuffle involving at least eight people at an open space in Lorong Slim, off Jalan Perak, here.
The gang had attacked a 22-year-old martial arts coach while he was walking back to his car with his girlfriend after supper at 12.15am yesterday.
They were beating and slashing the coach with iron rods, sticks and parang when one of them whipped out a pistol and opened fire, hitting the coach in the pelvis.
The coach fought back and the gunman opened fire thrice, hitting his gang members instead.
Another gang member hit the coach on the head with an iron rod before all of them fled the scene.
The coach was rushed to the Penang Hospital by passers-by while the girlfriend fled the scene.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid said the two wounded gang members were subsequently picked up by a police team at a private hospital.
