I hate the seats on Cathay's long haul flights. They don't recline and the squab slides forward instead... as a result they are hard and uncomfortable. Whoever thought of that ought to be shot.
at SB right now.
how good cardboard is.

Be prepared for the same on AeroMexico if you don't speak Spanish. But I didn't encounter that on Cathay. What was funny was how on the flight to LA the hostess was checking with all the Indian fellars that they ordered "Indian vegetarian" or "strict vegetarian" meals... one of housemates (a SG indian) was sitting with them and happily eating meat in their company.

I always took SQ to vancouver, but cathay on the way back ..... the flight is routed through from new york to vancouver to hong kong. And on that particular redeye flight, you'd invariably encounter a lot of very very young babies in the arms of peasant type ah tiongs who does not speak a word of english, or even cantonese for that matter. I was informed that these were babies born to illegal immigrants in the US, but are now returning to china to be cared for by their grandparents and other relatives after registering their birth and securing their US citizenships, while their still illegal parents stay on in the US to continue working.
And i tell you, you'll get no rest on one of those flights, and the flying waitresses treat everyone with black hair as fresh off the boaters too.
to think of it
are there really social benefits in cardboard? you read articles of ppl seeking redress being hauled up by mata and kena jailed.
mmm..
subsidy is a very good word used to bash against gabrament these days. but e money comes from where?

It's just extremely annoying that they are the cause of my inbox having so much nonsense to begin with.....
Two years ago, it was much worse when my inbox size was..... get this..... 30 MB.
Now they've increased the inbox size greatly, but the spam just keeps on coming.....

i'm going to rant at my tech side soon.. nothing in my inbox, draft, outbox, trash, anything.. and i'm registered to have 26MB in my inbox ![]()
just looked at the performance bonus email. wow, nowadays they are very transparent, even got list down the performance grade. ![]()
sometimes i wonder wtf is wrong with people...
for the organisational logo, we were given an official pdf file of it.. it is in 6 pages, with each page showing the colour (separated into pantone colours), black and white, b/w with grey and other technical bits, in a grid for them to get the proportions right...
1 out of ever 4 people who require the logo, write back telling us that the official guide picture is "not high resolution enough"
it's silly.. coz those who bother to go to page 3 see the damned thing which can be blown up to about 2 metres across without loss of resolution...
looking at photos taken by a vendor for a project, I really wonder how come this kind of CB quality can also be a photographer. composition is bad, image quality is also bad. there's so much visible noise!!
if I were the one who hired the vendor I'd be screaming at them now.
is it lowest quote one?

I dunno, I'm trying to find out. looking at the exif data, what kind of an idiot shoots at iso1000, 135mm focal length, in bright sunny weather. And all the indoor shots were iso1600 to iso2000. my first impression looking at some of the pics was the fella must have used a cheap compact. turns out some were with a D3, some with a D200.
holeeee craponastick!!
i think i can do better with my little D5000!
a D3!! and he came up with that??
but then, isn't the D3 capable of some unreasonably good stuff in low light? but.. bright and sunny? D3? ISO1000???

the bad low light images were taken with a D200, noise galore. it looks like they didn't even make any effort to do any noise reduction.
so basically, there is inconsistency as far as image quality is concerned.
kinda silly of them... they have a D3 and they use the D200 for low light pics.. ![]()

I think it was 2 different fellas, one with a d200 and another with a d3. The indoor pics taken with the D3 were ok. I'm trying to find out if they were not allowed to use flash or something. even then no commercial photographer should be making the decision to shoot in low light with a d200. they could have jolly well rented or borrowed another d3 body.
overkill moment in office..
the boss of the other section requested a standing fan as sometimes they have to work really late and the aircon cuts out at 7pm...
the buildings fellas offer her a turbo-fan.. the type you find in hawker centres which are the size of airplane props ![]()
