  i need to go make an appointment with the dentist to clean out my teeth..

  they don't feel very clean even after a lot of brushing.. could be plaque and tartar buildup

  i haven't gone for about 2 years... i was pretty regular with around 6 months per visit for cleaning.. but i haven't been going coz i was too lazy...

  dentists have some sort of standard rate too?

  i think each visit is like $50 or more

  and after the goddamned bird flu and dunno what outbreak, they all had to don full body protection suit, N95 surgical masks, the price went up even more

  brushing harder doesn't help... you end up grinding away your gums and tooth enamel..

  brushing more times a day helps.. but i can't be stuffed to do it in the day.. so morning and night only

  $50 is probably their minimum consultation fee!

  the actual cleaning etc is a separate line item.

  Jeez! I'm surprised to hear that. The private practices still wear just the mask, scrubs, gloves and maybe a screen as well.

  i dunno about now.. maybe it's less.. but i went during the time of the full-on whatever..

  they were in full body protection thingy with N95 medical mask, goggles AND this face shield which looked like the riot police...

  and the cost was $15 more than 6 months before that

  The last time I went to the dentist was because of a really conspicuous cavity that was forming.....

  The dentist looked at my mouth and asked: 'When was the last time you saw a dentist?'

  Me: My ORD dental FFI... about five years ago.

  Dentist: (probing my teeth) Cavity, cavity, cavity......

   

  I had three cavities to fill over two sessions.

  Add scaling to that, and the final bill was.....

  I think the last time I visited the dentist was in 1999, when I smashed my face in the bike accident .....

  that's more than 10 years ! ...
