on paper we're admin support assistants. I was PA to a LTC for 1 year.

but it was very good training for staff work sia. he'd throw letters to me for drafting a reply, saying stuff like " tell this cb to fuck off and die!" I learnt to be very creative with words

ok, just on the issue of PAs...not the SAFPAs can be either secretary types or right hand person
my unc is the latter and he's at the director level
and the best bit...he even has a PA!
