Since I skipped the traditional wedding, there is now dowry or tea ceremony or stuff like that.

I actually can't believe that my mom accepted our idea of using a cheque to represent the dowry.
I did bring up a few solid points with her, namely:
1. A few thousand dollars gets released for more important stuff like furniture for my house.
2. Better security - as long as the cheque is made out in the FS's name, anyone else who dares to steal it would just get a useless scrap of paper.

Instead, we came up with an ingenious solution: I opened a checking account with DBS this morning. Now all I have to do is to write a cheque and encase it in a frame.
So now I have a few thousand dollars that I can use as needed, and all the guests will be none the wiser.
do a photocopy of the real thing then put it in the frame would work too. They can't tell the diff anyway.

Should I use e Del Monte Fresh Cut or Fiesta fruit cocktail? I know latter mostly pineapples inside

Actually I was just salivating at bbq ribs and chicken wings.
I've been craving all sorts of unhealthy food for such a long time. And it doesn't get stay scratched even if I do cave in oscasionally. Maybe I'm fated to be fat...

The idea of the groom giving the dowry to the bride makes perfect sense - in the end, the couple has to use that money anyway to set up a household.
But putting a few thousand dosh in cash out in plain sight just to show off to the guests.... how smart is that supposed to be?!?!
