singaporeans are idiots. example: the NKF scandal? Durai and company were the ones misusing donations but the NKF's rank and file employees were abused by the public. -
i don't have to look far...
the $(*&@s ministers raised their pay, lumped themselves in with "civil servants" who got squat... especially my rank and file people who didn't even know about it, members of the public who specifically and purposely came to the lobby to abuse the clerks and people in the front line..
and the worse thing is, we didn't even get a cent.. the raise was for almost all except our department!!
the other departments didn't believe us until one of the guys printed out his pay slip and showed it to them!

It's funny cos .. this is one issue that different girl friends keep complaining to me abt their partners. THey get all irritated when someone cuts their queue, and the guy doesn't respond appropriately by defending their 'territorial' queue position rights~ -
that being said, there are sometimes no percentage when an old aunty or uncle in their 70s decide that all unwritten rules of courtesy and decorum do not apply to them...
they shove themselves in front of everyone, and if you even dare to tell them anything, you're a horrific &$*^# who is worse than Osama bin Laden to everyone

Sash and I were lining up to book or train trip in Venice and some jerk jumped in front of us and asked to cut the queue, and he made the mistake of having the unmitigated termrity to tell me, "It's all right".
I said, "Is that a fact now?", turned to the fifty or so people in the queue behind me and said, "Can I have you attention for a minute? This fellow here just told me it's all right that he jumps in ahead of all of us. What say you?". Some Yank behind me immediately bellowed, "Hell no!".
By the time I turned back, our friend had retrested to a corner to give me dirty looks.

In Singapore however, no-one else will step in if the person at fault decides that "might is right" and picks a fight with you. And I know better than to get into one, given my size.
But yeah, they don't have the balls to take it out on the right people.

There isn't anything wrong in deciding not to pick a fight - it's just common sense. It's this "I don't have the balls so I'll go take it out on some poor unsuspecting sod" bullshit that just sits so low on the evolutionary ladder.
